Destinations - Indian Ocean - Thailand
There are many small islands down the east coast of Phuket,
with beautiful long white sandy beaches and coconut groves. The water is crystal clear, with
good
sailing and good holding for anchorages. The wildlife is spectacular - monkeys, sea eagles, fruit
bats, jumping fish and more to keep you on your toes during your sailing experience in Thailand.
There is a great deal to see and do while yachting around Thailand, including a visit to Koh Naka Noi, which is a pearl farm. You may visit Koh Phi Phi Lee, from where you can go to Maya Bay (where the filming of The Beach was held), a scenic sandy lagoon with white sandy beaches surrounded by limestone cliffs and absolutely breathtaking views. Viking Cave is well known for its bird nests, which are harvested by locals to make the famous 'Bird's Nest Soup'. The swimming and snorkeling in the area is excellent. The Kingdom of Thailand draws more visitors than any other country in southeast Asia with its irresistible combination of breathtaking natural beauty, inspiring temples, renowned hospitality, robust cuisine and ruins of fabulous ancient kingdoms. Few countries are so well endowed. From the stupa-studded mountains of Mae Hong Son and the verdant limestone islands of the Andaman Sea, to the pulse-pounding dance clubs of Bangkok and the tranquil villages moored along the Mekong River, Thailand offers something for every type of traveller.
