Day 1 |
Set the tone for your cruise with a visit to the South
Street Seaport Museum, a 12-square-block historic district in lower Manhattan that provides a glimpse
of maritime life in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the evening, camp it up at Mario Batali's Babbo
or be oh-so-chic at Daniel. |
Day 2 |
Leave New York's North Cove behind as your cruise east
along Long Island Sound to Old Lyme. Explore Watch Rock Nature Preserve, which has served as an
inspiration to painters and photographers alike. In fact, Old Lyme is the center of American
Impressionism and the Florence Griswold Museum displays many important works. |
Day 3 |
ACruise to Mystic, where your can visit historic Mystic
Seaport Village or the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, which houses some of Bob
allard's underwater archeological finds. Foxwoods Casino is nearby if you want to try your luck or
enjoy live entertainment at B.B. King's Dance & Night Clubs. If you'd prefer a quiet evening, ask
the captain to anchor off nearby Fisher's Island. |
Day 4 |
Arriving in Newport before lunch, you'll want to call in
at The Breakers. This beautifully preserved 70-room palazzo is the emblem of Newport's Gilded Age.
Like photography? Like jazz? Then check out Blink Gallery on Thames Street. The Blink has a fabulous
photo collection of jazz greats. |
Day 5 |
Slip back out into the Atlantic for a dash to Martha's
Vineyard. Stroll around Vineyard Haven or work up an appetite biking along the shore as your crew
prepares a clambake on the beach -- a true Vineyard tradition. |
Day 6 |
It's off to Nantucket, the ultimate New England island.
If you like history, this is the place. If you like antiquing, this is the place. If you like seafood
dressed up or down, this is the place! Have a signature cocktail and a tuna martini appetizer at
Pearl. End up at Sfoglia, a trattoria-style restaurant where the sumptuous menu changes constantly.
