Destinations - South Pacific - Fiji
Fiji has 322 islands, over a hundred of them inhabited. It lies midway between Tahiti and Australia, due north of New Zealand.
A Fiji vacation can include many types of islands. The Mamanucas near Nadi are coral islands. Taveuni consists of a line of dormant volcanoes, while Viti Levu and Vanua Levu are
continental land masses.
The splendid reef systems of Fiji offer spectacular scuba diving. Other popular activities are snorkeling, surfing, windsurfing, yachting, hiking, bicycling, and golf.
The population is incredibly mixed with indigenous Melanesian Fijians in a majority. Indo- Fijians descended from Indian indentured laborers account for 40 percent. Polynesians,
Chinese, and Europeans make up the rest.
Fiji's largest island Viti Levu hosts both the main international airport Nadi and the capital city Suva.
Our map of Fiji illustrates a few of the many travel destinations. The rugged Yasawas Group hosts many backpacker camps.
Savusavu and Taveuni have fabulous scuba diving possibilities.
The historic old capital Levuka on Ovalau is Fiji's sightseeing highlight.
To make things even better, a Fiji island vacation is very affordable (Fiji is a great place to learn scuba diving) and all facilities are
well developed.
The hub of Pacific aviation, you can fly to Fiji from almost anywhere around the Pacific.
The joy of cruising the sparkling emerald and azure waters which joins Fiji's 322 islands is not just in the pleasure of experiencing untrammeled beauty but also in the realization of childhood dreams of faraway places. The range and scope of day cruises include dolphin-watching tours, game fishing, and snorkeling trips. Fiji's remarkable marine life embodies all the elements that make Fiji's reefs so exceptional. Drama and diversity, brilliant lavish panoramas, deep water rich with food and hiding places for the mysterious and race. Fiji's marine realm is as dynamic and splendid as nature can be. Breathtaking hard and soft corals, wall dives, caves, grottos and shipwrecks. ![]() | ||||
